Strong Start to 2026
This morning Tesla dropped its production and delivery stats for the opening quarter of 2026, and the numbers actually lean positive for a change after recent rough patches.
The company churned out 408,386 electric vehicles total, reflecting a 12.6 percent bump from Q1 2025. The bulk came from Models 3 and Y, with 394,611 assembled—a 14.2 percent rise over the prior year. The rest leaned heavily on Cybertrucks now that the aging Models S and X have been shelved after 14 years on the line.
Production Breakdown
- Total production: 408,386 EVs (+12.6% YoY)
- Models 3/Y: 394,611 units (+14.2% YoY)
- Primarily Cybertrucks for other models
Overproduction Reality
Deliveries posted gains too, but nothing matching the factory output. Tesla handed over 358,023 vehicles to customers, up 6.3 percent from last year's Q1. That leaves production growth at twice the sales pace, which spells potential inventory headaches ahead.
The Model S hung in there for 14 years, outlasting most cars and rivaled only by Nissan's R35 GT-R, old enough to have voted in its final days. With S and X gone, focus shifts to newer lines amid this production-sales gap.
