Funding Ban Set to Expire
A restriction on federal tax dollars reaching Planned Parenthood is scheduled to end soon, raising concerns among some lawmakers about how those resources might be spent going forward. The measure was included in earlier legislation but now stands to lapse on July 4 without further action from Congress.
Republicans attempted to extend the prohibition through amendments to recent budget measures, yet those efforts did not succeed. The proposed extension would have kept Medicaid funding restrictions in place until 2035, but the amendment failed to advance.
Hawley Requests Formal Investigation
Senator Josh Hawley has written to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz urging a detailed review of Planned Parenthood operations. The letter highlights approximately $1.5 billion in Medicare and Medicaid payments that the organization has received in recent years.
Hawley argues that these public funds should not support programs involving transgender medication or referrals for surgical procedures on individuals under 18. He points to reports indicating a sharp rise in such services, including a 40 percent year-over-year increase according to one analysis covering 2019 through 2022.
I urge you to direct your investigative efforts toward Planned Parenthood and its role in pushing transgender madness onto minor children.
Allegations of Circumventing Parental Consent
The senator has also raised questions about whether Planned Parenthood has used legal pathways to deliver hormone treatments to minors without obtaining approval from parents or guardians. Government Accountability Office data tracking federal payments during the same period did not specifically document expenditures tied to these services, leaving room for further examination.
Critics contend that any redirection of resources originally intended for low-income or elderly beneficiaries toward irreversible medical interventions on children represents a misuse of public money. Planned Parenthood has not responded to requests for comment on the matter.
