Overview of the Deal

Meta has secured a multiyear agreement with Nvidia to expand its data centers using millions of Nvidia's Grace and Vera CPUs as well as Blackwell and Rubin GPUs. While Meta has relied on Nvidia hardware for its AI products for some time, this arrangement introduces the first large-scale deployment exclusively using Nvidia Grace CPUs. Nvidia states that this setup will provide notable performance-per-watt gains within Meta's data centers.

Future Expansions and Challenges

The deal extends to incorporating Nvidia's next-generation Vera CPUs into Meta's facilities starting in 2027. Concurrently, Meta is advancing its own custom chips designed for AI model execution, though reports from the Financial Times indicate ongoing technical hurdles and rollout difficulties.
