End of an era for the Control Panel
More than two years after first announcing its intentions, Nvidia has now officially retired the Control Panel application on Windows. The company has spent this period porting supported features across to its newer Nvidia app client. With the latest update, all actively maintained Control Panel functions for GeForce users are considered transferred and modernized within the replacement software.
The classic Control Panel served GeForce and Studio driver users for twenty years. Its retirement marks the conclusion of that long service period. Nvidia states that the move allows the company to focus development on a single updated client rather than maintaining two separate tools.
Status for different user groups
GeForce users on Game Ready and Studio Drivers no longer have access to the retired Control Panel. The transition covers the features that remained actively supported during the migration window. RTX PRO users are referenced separately in the announcement, though specific details for that group were not expanded in the initial statement.
The change affects only Windows installations where the Control Panel had been the standard interface. No rollback option is indicated for those who preferred the older layout. Users are directed to the Nvidia app for continued access to the same settings and controls.
With the introduction of our most recent Nvidia App update, all actively supported Nvidia Control Panel features for GeForce users have been modernized and transitioned to the new client.
