Purchase Details

Palantir CEO Alex Karp has acquired the St. Benedict's Monastery in Colorado, a property once inhabited by Trappist monks, at a cost of $120 million.

This Aspen-area ranch now joins Karp's expanding portfolio of real estate assets.

Property Overview

Located in Snowmass, Colorado, approximately 30 minutes from Aspen, the property was initially listed for $150 million last year, according to Ken Mirr of Mirr Ranch Group, one of the listing agents, who informed The Wall Street Journal.

The entire 3,700-acre estate, including the monastery, was transferred to Karp, establishing it as the most expensive residential sale recorded in Colorado's Pitkin County, as Mirr reported to the Journal.

Historical Context

For 70 years, the site belonged to Trappist monks, although only a few remain there now, per the Journal's report.

Mirr did not reveal the buyer's name but stated that the purchaser does not intend to use the property as a personal residence.

Karp appears on Bloomberg's Billionaires Index as one of the world's wealthiest, holding the 146th position with a net worth exceeding $17 billion as of late 2025, according to the index.
